Frequently asked questions

What makes this course unique?

Chris & Michelle have over 55 years of combined dance experience, and both of them are: Students, Teachers, Coaches, Choreographers, and Mentors.

  • They fully understand and comprehend all sides, angles, and facets of couples dance.

  • That knowledge combined with a daily walk with God, allows them to have a very different perspective on the correlation of couples dance and how it corresponds with marriage.

  • They have worked with hundreds of people and scores of married couples. They have witnessed firsthand how couples dance impacts lives and changes marriages.

  • They use the physical activity of couples dance to explain and exemplify God’s design of marriage - participants don’t just sit through theory and stories, instead they will have an experience with practical and tangible takeaways.

Can unmarried couples attend?

Follow by Faith seminars are specifically designed for married and engaged couples.

The Follow by Faith ministry events seek to enrich and empower married and engaged couples, combining God’s design for marriage with real life applications. These events are built around the fact that the participants have already committed to each other.

Marriage is a life-changing event, designed by God. Through years of experience, Follow by Faith has found that a mix of married couples and single participants can create a situation where the marrieds are “teaching” the unmarried attendees, rather than focusing on themselves.

The Follow by Faith seminars and classes can be tailored for adult singles, college students, and teen/youth groups.

Do I have to know how to dance to attend?

No! The beauty of Follow by Faith events is that they are centered on God’s design for marriage. Couples dance is simply the “delivery mechanism” for the message - it’s a way to better understand God’s design, and apply His plan to your marriage.

Event attendees will each learn some basic dance steps, but the focus will be on connection, and how to incorporate that into the realities of married daily life.

What if I don’t have rhythm?

You’ve had rhythm since before you were born! Your own heart has been beating from 21days after fertilization. So, in utero, you not only had the rhythm of your own heart beating, but your mom’s too! You’ve always had the rhythm of life.

Not everyone has been taught to hear and comprehend rhythm equally: Some people were brought up with music, singing, dancing, etc. Others weren’t. The good news… you can learn to hear musical beats and rhythms. The best news… God has rhythm! He created you in His likeness, and part of this course is learning to listen to God for direction… so it will be good practice.

Can same sex couples attend?

Follow by Faith believes and teaches, what the Bible says about marriage, specifically that He created male and female and they shall leave their father and mother and become one flesh. Follow by Faith events were created to honor God’s Word, and for those who meet that criteria.

Is there a follow-up course?

Currently, Follow by Faith events are in the “first generation.” Having said that, all Follow by Faith events, whether they are in a one-day seminar format, or a 4 week series, are “organic” in nature. That means each Follow by Faith event will have a similar structure; however, because there is so much input and participation from the attendees, each one will be different from the rest. Therefore, no two Follow by Faith events will be exactly the same, and that event attendees will gain new insights and information at each one.

Each event participant will be given a Follow by Faith journal for their own personal growth as individuals and as a couple. The journal will take a “deep dive” of the Follow by Faith seminar, and allow couples to continue to practice the skills and techniques learned at the events.

Follow by Faith encourages all event participants to visit the Follow by Faith website regularly to read the event and topical related blogs, watch the couples dance reminder and new dance steps teaching videos, see the latest music selections, and more.

If an event participant, or group of participants, want to learn more dance steps and/or types of dance, Chris & Michelle will schedule lessons on an individual request basis.
